Shoshone Released Booking Photos
A mugshot is the identification photograph created during booking. Release from jail does not by itself erase that agency record. It also does not make the photograph automatically available online. No Shoshone-specific or Idaho statewide rule was found that guarantees an online mugshot gallery or compels the sheriff to publish a photo for each booking or release.
Idaho's ordinary public-record process is the correct starting point. The custodian decides whether a requested booking photograph exists and is disclosable. Current-investigation concerns, protected personal material, juvenile restrictions, redaction, and other exemptions can affect the response. Ask for one named photograph tied to an approximate booking date and number, not a broad image collection.
A photo answers only a limited question. It can connect an image with a booking record, but it cannot establish whether charges were proved, whether the person remains in custody, or whether the person left for the community rather than another agency.
Juvenile records require a separate boundary. Kootenai County Juvenile Detention serves Shoshone County by agreement, but adult mugshot channels should not be used to seek juvenile identities or images. Contact the responsible juvenile court or detention agency for lawful case-specific information, and respect any restriction the custodian applies.
Shoshone Mugshot Source Channels
Each source has a different scope. Shoshone County's official web presence offers a records route but no photo gallery. IDOC's inspected public detail pages did not display portraits. VINE is status and notification infrastructure, not a promised photo archive. The table keeps those limits visible.
| Channel | Photo availability | How to access |
|---|---|---|
| Shoshone sheriff website | No roster, release gallery, or photo display found | Use the sheriff contact and county request form |
| Sheriff mobile app | No official app found or linked | Do not rely on an app claiming official status without county confirmation |
| County booking record | May exist; release is not guaranteed | Request the identified booking photograph through the county form |
| IDOC public search | No portrait appeared on inspected detail pages | Request the latest IDOC identification photo through JustFOIA if releasable |
| Idaho registry | Profiles may contain an image for qualifying registrants | Use only for its statutory registry purpose, not as a general mugshot archive |
| Local news | May show a logo, news image, or occasionally a sourced photo | Confirm the image type and verify custody separately |
| Commercial aggregators | Possible but unverified and often stale | No commercial gallery is linked or endorsed |
The official route is stronger because it identifies the custodian and booking. A copied image can lose its date, source, or case context as it moves between sites.
No Shoshone Photo Roster
The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office page does not expose a current inmate roster, a recent-release page, or a booking-photo gallery. No official sheriff mobile app was found in the documented sweep. That means there is no county screen where a reader can reliably search a recently released person's image.
The absence also affects release verification. A person who is no longer shown on a hypothetical live roster could have been released, transferred, or moved under another authority. Here, no public roster exists at all. Use the sheriff record for the custody event and the photo request as separate but related items. The Shoshone County 24-hour release process explains the same-day confirmation path.
The county forms page shows the official written-request route.

The captured page leads to the current form and sheriff addendum rather than a public photo gallery.
Request Shoshone Booking Photos
Use the current county request form. It lists Shoshone County, 700 Bank Street, Wallace, ID 83873, bocc@co.shoshone.id.us, and 208-752-3331. Select the Sheriff's Office/911 department, complete the sheriff addendum, and choose email, mail, pickup, or in-person examination. Describe one image closely enough for staff to find it.
- Give the full name and a distinguishing identifier, plus the approximate booking date and booking number if known.
- Ask for the booking photograph tied to that event, “if disclosable,” and identify the desired electronic format.
- Request the booking summary and custody-event entry when they are needed to confirm that the photo matches the correct booking.
- Ask for an advance cost estimate. The county has not promised a fixed photo fee or free production.
- If part is withheld, read the written reason and use the appeal route stated on the current form without assuming the appeal will succeed.
The form warns that current investigation or prosecution records may be withheld under Idaho Code § 74-124. Idaho residents generally receive a grant or denial within three working days; an agency needing more time can extend that period to ten working days. Those response periods do not guarantee that a photo will be produced.
If the response contains the booking summary but omits the photograph, ask whether the image was withheld, does not exist in the requested form, or needs a separate review. Do not treat silence as proof that no photo was taken. Keep the request and response dates, the exact wording, and any cited exemption before using the form's appeal process.
The Shoshone County release-record coverage can help identify the booking and custody event before the image request is filed.
Shoshone Booking News Limits
Commercial jail pages can copy photos or booking data, but none was verified as an authoritative Shoshone release source. Such data can be stale, detached from its original record, or tied to the wrong person. No commercial mugshot publisher, data broker, or paid removal service is linked or endorsed here.
The Shoshone News-Press booking summaries are more useful as date leads. They report adult bookings supplied by the sheriff, but they list bookings rather than releases and often display an agency logo instead of an individual mugshot. A separate news photograph should be called news imagery unless the source clearly identifies it as an official booking photo.
A booking column may help narrow a request to one day. It cannot prove that the person later left custody. Match the date to the sheriff's booking record, ask separately for the photo, and confirm release or transfer through the custody-event record.
Note: A news image and a jail booking photograph are not interchangeable unless the source clearly says they are the same.
Shoshone Mugshot Record Limits
No verified Idaho anti-pay-to-remove statute or Shoshone-specific mandatory online-publication rule was found. Do not claim that paying a private publisher changes the sheriff's official record. Questions about an official image should go to the custodian that released or displays it, while a news outlet or private publisher controls its own copy subject to applicable law and policy.
Idaho Clean Slate relief shields eligible court records from public disclosure; it does not destroy them. Official guidance generally allows an eligible petition no earlier than five years after the whole sentence is complete, including probation, parole, fines, and restitution. Eligibility is limited, and one granted shielding petition per lifetime is described. A shielded iCourt record may still remain available for specified official uses.
Idaho Code § 19-2604 discharge or set-aside relief is another judicial status. Neither it nor Clean Slate relief should be described as automatic erasure of every booking image held by every source. Obtain the court order, then ask each official custodian how that order affects access to its copy.
Shoshone IDOC Photo Requests
An adult transported from Shoshone County Jail into state jurisdiction may acquire IDOC records, but the inspected IDOC Resident/Client detail pages did not show a portrait. The public search remains useful for status, IDOC number, sentencing county, case number, release-to-supervision data, and sentence-satisfaction information. It is not a dependable public mugshot gallery.
IDOC's JustFOIA portal accepts a focused public-record request.

Include the full name, IDOC number, birth year if needed, sentencing county and case number, date range, and a request for the latest IDOC identification photograph if publicly releasable. IDOC has not guaranteed that photo's availability or a fixed fee.
Idaho Photo Records Guidance
The Idaho Attorney General's public-records guidance explains that requests go to the designated custodian and should include contact details and the residence declaration required by the current process. Idaho residents receive the first two labor hours and first 100 paper pages without charge under the cited guidance; additional labor may be charged at the lowest-paid qualified employee or attorney rate.

Those general rules do not promise a booking photograph. The narrowest useful request identifies one person, one booking, one image, and a preferred format. It also lets the custodian state the real fee, exemption, or redaction decision.
When a photograph is produced, retain the agency response with it. The response helps preserve the source, booking date, and scope that can be lost when an image is copied alone. Compare the name and booking number with the custody record before treating the image as a match. Similar names, old images, and later arrests can otherwise cause confusion.
VINE should not be used to fill the photo gap. Idaho VINE is built for custody status and notification events in participating jail and prison data. Its official materials do not promise a photograph, exact release reason, destination, charge history, or permanent archive. A registry image also belongs to a separate statutory system and does not prove a Shoshone County booking or release date.
Federal sources are narrower still. The BOP public locator is designed for status and dates, not as a dependable mugshot source. The U.S. Marshals Service has no comparable public historic photo locator. If federal custody is involved, use the matching docket and lawful agency records channel rather than substituting a commercial image page.
After release, label an official booking photograph as such, label a news image as news imagery, and leave an uncertain image unidentified.
